About me

I’m Amanda Bird, and I’m an end of life doula in Portland, Oregon, with roots in northeastern Oregon. Following a strong calling to care for people and families facing death and bereavement, I completed training from the University of Vermont’s End of Life Doula Certificate program in 2024. I hold master’s degrees in Library and Information Science and American Studies. I am a hospice volunteer, a college librarian, and mom of two.

Being an end of life doula is a way for me to support my community and offer care at a tender time in life. I chose the name Kinship as it expresses the connectedness of this work: when I am invited in, I am honored to share your path.

If you have any questions about how I may be helpful, please don’t hesitate to reach out. There is no “typical” person who may wish to work with an end of life doula, and I welcome all inquiries.

I am also interested in helping to build community amongst end of life doulas in Oregon, as well as looking into new models to financially support this work.
